Elections take place every four years. The last one was held in May 2019 and the next one will be in 2023. In-between elections, Parish Councils are allowed to co-opt members if electors don’t call for elections to fill vacant seats
Prestbury Parish Council has a constituency of 12 Parish Councillors. The Councillors have to stand for election every four years or, if there are vacancies in-between elections, Councillors can be co-opted.
Prestbury is divided into three wards, Prestbury Ward, Butley Ward and Fallibroome Ward. Five Parish Councillors represent the Ward of Prestbury, six Parish Councillors representing the Ward of Butley, and one Parish Councillor representing the Ward of Fallibroome.
The Statement as to Persons Nominated for the current term (2019-2023) can be accessed for the Prestbury Ward, for the Butley Ward, and for the Fallibroome Ward. A statutory annual meeting is held in May at which the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Council are elected by the Council members at the start of the Civic Year which runs from May to April.
In order to be transparent each Councillor must declare any pecuniary interests and a register is kept of these with the monitoring officer at Cheshire East Council.
